Friday 8th February to Thursday 21st February 2019

“If you want to see the masks, come to Venice and enjoy yourself, but if you want to enter into the real atmosphere of the Carnival and its unique enchantment of the timeless feeling, get a costume and take part in it”.

Our Plan

Day 1 - Friday 8th February 2019

Our meeting point is Padova. We will travel to the Agriturismo where the doors of the ‘farmhouse’ will be opened by our hosts. The real Italian experience starts now!

You will have free time to settle. We will start the evening with an 'aperitivo di benvenuto' before enjoying our first home made cooked dinner. Our friendly chef is well known in the region and amongst MPLCS Language Holiday participants of previous years for her mouth-watering dishes and is looking forward to spoiling us. Buon Appetito!

Day 2 - Saturday 9th February 2019

Today, after breakfast and our Italian conversation, we will travel by train to Venice.

We will have a full day in the magnificent “Citta’ dei Canali”.

We will experience Venice as a Venetian and discover places and secrets belonging to centuries of Venetian history.

Free time before dinner.

Day 3 - Sunday 10th February 2019

After breakfast and our Italian conversation we will travel to Verona where a walking tour will take us to the Roman Arena, Romeo and Juliet's House, Lamberti Tower and Piazza delle Erbe.

You will have some free time to immerse yourself into the town, talking to the locals and practicing your Italian, followed by an enjoyable dinner.

Day 4 - Monday 11th February 2019 COOKING CLASS

After breakfast and our Italian conversation you will have the rest of the morning at your leisure.

You might decide to venture into Piombino or the nearby Castelfranco Veneto. Or you might just decide to rest at the Agriturismo.

In the afternoon we will have a cooking class! Home made pasta, a “second piatto” with seasonal vegetables and a cake that we are going to enjoy for dinner with a well deserved glass of wine! Buon appetito!

Day 5 - Tuesday 12th February 2019 VENETIAN VILLA

After breakfast and our Italian conversation we will have some free time.

In the afternoon we will visit a Venetian Villa, designed by Andrea Palladio, the most influential figure in the history of western architecture. We will then have dinner and converse in Italian.

Day 6 - Wednesday 13th February 2019 DOLOMITES / MARMOLADA

After breakfast and our Italian conversation we will travel by minibus to admire the Dolomites.

A Unesco world natural heritage site, Marmolada is the biggest glacier in the Dolomites area and because of its height (3.342m) and uniqueness it has the name "Regina delle Dolomiti" (Queen of the Dolomites).

You will have some time at leisure before traveling back to the Agriturismo for dinner.

Day 7 - Thursday 14th February 2019

Today, after breakfast and our Italian conversation, our train destination will be Padova.

We will walk through the historical centre, with its squaresand their busy markets where we will be able to admire the most important monuments in the heart of Padua: Justice Palace, the city hall, the "Bo'" Palace the ancient university seat where Galileo Galileo used to teach, and one of the most important European coffee-houses, the historical Caffè Pedrocchi. We will have time to wander about the streets in a relaxed fashion.

Tonight is a Pizza night!

Free time before dinner.

Day 10 - Sunday 17th February 2019

Today, after breakfast and our Italian conversation, you are invited to explore the area on your own and challenge yourself practising your language skills.

You could go to the local market, to the pasticceria for a 'caffe' o an 'aperitivo' or catch the train and experience one of the beautiful areas in the Veneto Region by yourself.

You might decide to stay at the Farmhouse and have a chat (in Italian of course!) or have a rest. The choice is yours!
