The vines of France and milk of Burgundy

This itinerary is designed for travelers who are passionate about the French language and culture, who want to experience the "real" French life. The trip will comprise a small group of 10 to 15 people. We will have French lessons focused on the day topic; we will sometimes use public transport in order to encourage you to practice your French.

Our Plan

Day 1 - Monday 10th June 2019

Greetings and check in at the Hotel in Beaune.

In the afternoon you are invited to a "Bienvenue" toast and a tour briefing, an introduction into the flavours of the Burgundy land and its produce; a celebration of the traditions.

Time at leisure before Dinner.

Day 2 - Tuesday 11th June 2019

After breakfast and our first French conversation class we will take a walking tour through the town of Beaune.

We will visit the famous hospices, founded in 1443 as a hospital for the poor. The original hospital building, the Hôtel-Dieu, one of the finest examples of French fifteenth-century architecture, is now a museum.

Free time for lunch. In the afternoon we will enjoy a gourmande guided tour. We will taste some regional produce while practicing our French speaking skills with the locals.

Back at the accommodation you will have some time at leisure before dinner.

Day 3 - Wednesday 12th June 2019

Today, after breakfast we will travel to the Ouche Valley. We will visit the medieval town of Chateauneuf and its castle Châteauneuf en Auxois, a 15th-century fortress situated on a rocky outcrop above the surrounding plains, dominating the valley of Canal de Bourgogne.

After enjoying lunch in an Auberge, we will have a pleasant walk along the canal and some free time to rest.

We will have dinner in a local restaurant before returning to our accommodation.

Day 4 - Thursday 13th June 2019

After breakfast and our French conversation class we will immerse ourselves in the wine-growing region of Burgundy.

Our trip will take us through towns known all over the world for their exquisite wines. We will learn about the traditional French wine production and taste some of the local wines.

Time to rest before dinner.

Day 5 - Friday 14th June 2019

After breakfast we will have our French conversation class.At this stage you will all be very confident with your language skills therefore we will venture into Beaune and challenge ourselves in 'French talks' with the locals.

In the afternoon we will go back in time to the XIII and XIV centuries. A guided tour along a labyrinth of arched wine cellars will lead us to the discovery of the biggest cellars in the Burgundy region. A wine tasting at Tastevin will enhance the enjoyment of the experience.

Day 6 - Saturday 15th June 2019

After breakfast and our French conversation class you will have the whole day at your leisure.

Day 7 - Sunday 16th June 2019

After breakfast and our French conversation class we will wander through the market and shops in the search of the right ingredients. Our challenge will be to find everything we need for our cooking class. Bon courage!

In the afternoon we will enjoy an exciting cooking class with a local chef who will share some of the family secrets and teach us the traditional techniques of the French cuisine. After our hard work we will enoy dinner with a well deserved glass of wine.

Day 8 - Monday 17th June 2019

Today after breakfast we will check out and leave Beaune.

We will travel to the glorious and picturesque Loire Valley, part of the UNESCO World Heritage.

After our check in we will have some time to rest before dinner.

Day 9 - Tuesday 18th June 2019

Today, after breakfast and our French conversation class, we will discover Blois through its pedestrian circuits "Les pétits clous" reaching some spectacular parts of the town with the most beautiful views.

In the afternoon we will visit the Royal Chateau of Blois, a true panoramic survey of art and history of the chateaux of the Loire Valley. Residence of 7 kings and 10 queens of France, the Royal Chateau of Blois is a site reminiscent of the power and daily life at court in the Renaissance.

We will continue our journey discovering The Maison de la Magie, a temple of magic arts full of exciting surprises. It is the only public museum in Europe which incorporates in one place collections of magic and a site for permanent performing arts.

After some time at leisure we will enjoy the "Son et Lumiere", sound and light show, one of the most dramatic show in France.

Day 10 - Wednesday 19th June 2019

After breakfast our destination today is the Chateau de Chambord. A guided tour will take us through this magnificent castle, revealing the very unique history of Chambord.

We will enjoy the afternoon tasting local wines and produce.

Day 11 - Thursday 20th June 2019

After breakfast and our French conversation class, we will discover the troglodyte world along the Loire River. Our adventure today will be inside a troglodyte cave!

In the afternoon, after a walking tour around the village and some "bonding" time with the locals, we will have some time at leisure before dinner.

Day 12 - Friday 21st June 2019

Today, after breakfast we will visit the Chateau d'Amboise. This emblematic monument and its landscaped gardens offer one of the most remarkable panoramas of the Loire valley.

Connected by an underground passageway is the Chateau du Clos Luce famous for being the official residence of Leonardo da Vinci between 1516 and 1519. We will visit the Leonardo da Vinci museum and admire some models of various machines designed by Leonardo da Vinci.

Time at leisure before our "Last supper".


Day 13 - Saturday 22nd June 2019

After Breakfast we will check out and travel to Paris.

Prices are based on participation of a minimum of 10 people.

Prices are calculated at exchange rate 1AUD=0.65 EURO. We reserve the right to amend pricing due to currency fluctuations. Variations will not be charged after full payment has been received.


Changes to dates, accommodation and the day to day itinerary may be made if deemed necessary for numerous reasons.


The price is based on a minimum of 10 paying participants. If the minimum number of passengers in not reached the tour might be cancelled in which case full deposit refund is guaranteed. If the minimum number of passengers in not reached and all paying participants agree to pay extra money to cover extra costs, the tour will still go ahead.

In the event of a client cancelling a confirmed tour booking, the following cancellation charges apply:

  • 71 days or more prior to commencement of tour = loss of $1000
  • 45-70 days or more prior to commencement of tour = 70% of total price
  • 01-45 days or more prior to commencement of tour = 100% of total price


Your passport must have at least 6 months validity beyond your return date which means it must be valid until at least April 2018. Australian Passport holders do not require visas for travel to Italy. If you will be travelling on another passport please let us know so we can confirm your requirements.

Travel Insurance is not included in your tour cost and is compulsory. In case of cancellation due to sickness or any other causes and any other unforseen event that may occur you must be covered for cancellation expenses and any medical costs. We are unable to take responsibility for matters that are outside our control.
