Mornington Peninsula Language and Culture Studies

Our teachers

We are all passionate native speakers, and we'd love to share our love of language, culture, and the traditions of our homelands with you.

Diana teaches Spanish

Hola! My name is Diana, I am from Madrid, and I’ve been living in Australia for close to 5 years now.

Very young I decided to study Tourism, I wanted to travel over the world and open my view to other cultures. I lived in Ireland and I travelled in many countries in Europe and America. Later on I decided to study many techniques to keep body and mind in balance and this opened to me a path that I am still loving.

I’ve been teaching in Spain in many areas and working in Cultural Centres from kids to adults. When I moved to Mornington, I taught in the U3A, and this experience was for me a treasure for the people that I had the opportunity to meet there. And from 4 years ago I have been enjoying being part of MPLCS.

I love to have the chance to share my culture and for me, it is great when I can see my students talking in my language, it makes me really happy. Looking forward to meeting you soon. Nos vemos pronto!

Tanja’s favourite German children book is ‘ Das verzauberte Klassenzimmer’, from Cornelia Funke. She is a native speaker, emigrated with her husband Bernd to Australia in 2009 and home schooled their 3 kids in German. When she is not busy as a Mum, she runs a successful mindful fitness business and helps out in a school garden. She also loves teaching kids about water safety and swimming and is excited to be on the MPLCS team for teaching German within the Der Die Das framework.

I met many people when I was in Europe and when I travelled abroad who were interested in Japanese culture and language, so I thought it would be good if I could teach Japanese or introduce our culture and etiquette. Therefore, I decided to go to a Japanese language school to learn how to teach Japanese. I was working as a translator/interpreter before coming to Australia, but I have also been teaching Japanese for more than 10 years. I am looking forward to meeting you soon - not only for the language but also for sharing a cultural exchange with my students.
